Minor in Medical and Molecular Genetics

A)   For students outside of the Dept. of Medical and Molecular Genetics (MMGE) and IBMG program wishing to minor in genetics/MMGE, at least 9 credit hours (12 is typical) of coursework with a grade of B (3.0) or better.

  1. Required: Q580 Basic Human Genetics - 3cr. (offered every Fall semester)
    Rationale: only course where exposure to all areas of the department is covered.
  2. Required: At least two of the following:
    1. Q612 Molecular and Biochemical Genetics - 3cr (offered every spring, odd years)
    2. Q620 Human Cytogenetics - 3cr. (offered every spring semester, even years)
    3. Q630 Population Genetics - 3cr. (offered every spring semester, odd years)
  3. Any other departmental courses (MGEN-Q prefix or G788) including one credit electives (G724 Molecular Cancer Genetics, G725 Gene Therapy, G726 Developmental Genetics, or G727 Animal Models of Human Disease) with the agreement of the student's departmental minor representative on the Advisory Committee.  This excludes Q660 Medical Genetics Seminar and Q800 Research.  See .


B)   For IBMG students NOT in Medical & Molecular Genetics (MMGE), at least 12 credit hours of coursework with a grade of B (3.0) or better chosen from the following:
